From Surviving to Thriving: Support for Families of Those with Mental Health Challenges

Caring for a loved one who is experiencing mental health challenges can challenging.  Many families and carers find themselves unsure of how best to help, often feeling caught between wanting to support and needing to protect their own wellbeing.
This 4–6 week psychoeducational program is designed to give family members and loved ones the knowledge, tools and confidence to navigate these challenges with greater understanding and resilience. Together, we will explore topics such as:
  • How the nervous system responds to stress and trauma
  • Understanding behaviours through a trauma-informed lens
  • The difference between enabling and supporting
  • Setting healthy boundaries
  • The drama triangle and communication patterns
  • Building resources and self-care practices for sustainability
Important to Know- This is not a therapy group and does not replace professional treatment for mental health conditions. Instead, it is a safe and supportive learning space, combining education, practical tools and gentle guided exercises. The focus is on empowering you, as a family member or carer, to strengthen your own wellbeing while supporting your loved one more effectively.
